The Challenge:
Dongyang-Kaiming Sports Equipment Company is a joint-venture company that was started in 1996 by a Chinese company and Canadian ACMI company. The product family includes rolling dollies for use in supermarkets and the golf course plus other equipment related to golf. The products have been sold mostly in Europe, America and Australia.
Due to the rapid increase of the size of the market, a large number of requirements came in from other potential groups requiring a dramatic reduction in the product development cycle time. It was very evident that our 2-D drawing software could not meet the needed cycle time reductions at the required quality.

IronCAD the Productivity Solution:
The company started using the CAXASolid software for product design in October 2003. After just one-week of software training to their application engineers, CAXASolid was been used successfully in the product development process, showing how easy to use CAXASolid really was. Take for example the DQ-03 golf dolly. Using CAXASolid, it was not necessary to send prototype product to our European customers for review. Through the use of the internet the customer was able to do a virtual product design review using both images and movies created by CAXASolid. Through this method the customer was able to provide the needed feedback, helping them feel comfortable with the design. More powerful software features were used in the design of the packaging of the product. The Company got the results it needed - time was saved, costs were lowered.
Using CAXASolid, product design productivity increased 70% and the design cycle time was shortened to one week from 27 days within the Company. Product changes became very easy. CAXASolid also provided much needed help in the writing of the user manual for the product.
