The Challenge:
Develop breakthrough technology that polymerizes a liquid material directly into a superior quality plastic lens by using ultraviolet light.

IronCAD the Productivity Solution:
Using IronCAD, the Q-2100 was developed from a blank sheet of paper to a completed pilot production run in less than three months. The project was the first large assembly to be modeled by Optical Dynamics using a 3D CAD product.

Summary
A single engineer with limited IronCAD experience was responsible for the overall mechanical design and detailed component design. IronCAD was used extensively for conceptual design.
IronCAD's hyper-operability capabilities ensured that the vendor could import the parts, get a head start on production and further shorten the production cycle.
IronCAD has also helped Optical Dynamics quickly make important changes.

"IronCAD's visualization capabilities were key to minimizing prototype cycles. Previously, when we subcontracted some of the design work to vendors with wireframe systems, getting parts right required several prototype cycles and two to three months additional development time." - Galen Powers
