As part of your Virtual Product Development (VPD) process, you can use MSC.Nastran to assess many functional
aspects of your products, such as the structural response (displacement, strain, stress, vibration, temperature) due to its material
properties and the loads and boundary conditions that are applied to it during operation.
The MSC.Nastran product family is modular, enabling you to analyze products ranging from simple components to complex structures
and systems. This also enables you to start simply and to grow your analysis capabilities as your VPD needs progress. The Basic
product configuration enables you to perform linear statics, normal modes, and buckling analyses on models of unlimited size. When
you want to extend and accelerate your FEA work, you can add products tailored to Heat Transfer, Dynamics, Spot Welding, Aeroelasticity,
or Nonlinear analyses. And you can automate or customize your work using the Optimization or DMAP products, respectively.
Simulations of this nature can be computationally intensive as your model size grows. MSC.Nastran's Superelements and Automated
Component Mode Synthesis (ACMS) products provide significant solution efficiency improvements, while the Distributed Memory Parallel
(DMP) product provides dramatic performance scalability on parallel processor computer systems.
We recommend MSC.Patran as your pre- and post-processor for MSC.Nastran analyses. MSC.FEA offers you a special bundled version of
MSC.Patran + MSC.Nastran. Your loading and boundary conditions can originate from physical tests or from MSC.ADAMS. And you can use
MSC.Nastran with MSC.Fatigue or FE-Fatigue to predict the durability of your products. To simulate the highly nonlinear aspects associated
with your product's manufacturing operations, such as forging and forming, we recommend MSC.Marc, MSC.Dytran, MSC.SuperForm, and MSC.SuperForge.
