Attached is a Scene File I use as a template to meet my desire needs. Maybe you have the same likes as me, then feel free to use.

What I did:

1) Increased Ambient Light to 30 for sharper imagery.
2) Renamed lights that make more sense to me.
3) Renamed default camera to "Working" and added one for "Rendering"
4) Fixed Coordinate Planes to show when you turn them on.
5) Datum Planes to AutoSize
