Thanks Doug, Sort of. Is it possible to colour the whole of the engraved text,not only the base? What you have demod would be OK. How do I achieve that?

If you do the smart paint the other way around - select the part at the part level & smartpaint black, then select the faces & smartpaint brass. When you subtract the letters, all of the newly-exposed faces will be black.

There are a couple ways to make the text like this in IronCAD. The easiest way is probably to download the "negative letters" catalog from here...

Why do the letters from the "Negative Letters" come in upside down in relation to coordinate system (flipped in "Y" Axis)?
If I were cutting Stencils’ these might be good. but they are not smooth letters they are constructed with segments and not smooth arcs.

The IronCAD 3D Text is based on facet geometry, that is why it is segmented.

Here's a file with 3D text where you can "project" the letters or use them as you like. These aren't smooth either, but instead of segmented curves there are chamfers or long straight lines.

I was involved in creating the "Negative Letters" catalog and at the time we didn't have a "smooth" option for the letters we made. It worked fine for those who wanted the catalog at that time though. They are all made with the IronPRO XT tool 3D Text. As you can see on the image below the newer version has more options than before and works really well. With the option Optimize Profile you'll get arcs instead of polylines.
