Artica: The Creative Agency from the East

Challenge
Artica, a creative agency specializing in booth and interior construction, needed an all-in-one 3D CAD solution that seamlessly connected to their CNC machine. With custom projects and diverse materials, transitioning from 2D to 3D was crucial for reducing design errors, improving efficiency, and ensuring a smooth workflow from concept to production in a single software.
Summary
Artica adopted IronCAD 3D CAD software with Para-Flex CAM integration, provided by Dynfos to streamline their design-to-production process. With basic training, their team quickly embraced the new 3D workflow, utilizing IronCAD’s TriBall for fast modeling and early error detection. The seamless integration with their HOMAG CNC machine ensured an efficient and cohesive CAD-to-CAM workflow.
Results
IronCAD and Para-Flex improved Artica’s workflow, enhancing communication and efficiency. By detecting design issues early, Artica reduced errors and production delays. Automatic cutting lists roll straight from the software, streamlining communication between planners and the workshop. With their entire process in one system, they deliver high-quality, custom projects that perfectly capture each client's brand story.

Artica is a creative agency from the eastern part of the Netherlands. Everything they do revolves around one thing: building strong brands. They are both specialists and a full-service agency, boasting all the in-house expertise needed to reach the target audience with unique messaging.

The secret to their success? No stock solutions. Artica creates bespoke solutions for every client, from A to Z, in close collaboration with the client. This ensures that the result isn’t just a pretty picture, but that the true story behind a brand is discovered and communicated.

From Concept to Creation: In-House Stand and Interior Design

Artica’s stand and interior design department make it possible to actually build everything they conceive. It’s this department that has been using Dynfos software since 2020, from 3D CAD software to CAM software for CNC machines. We asked Martijn Dragt (Head of Workshop at Artica) and Frank Otto (Work Planner at Artica) about their experiences.

Artica BoothA Referral Leads to Success

Artica discovered Dynfos through other companies in the region. “We heard positive stories from other users. Their way of working is exactly what we wanted,” explains Martijn Dragt, Head of Workshop at Artica. The fact that their new CNC machine was also easily integrated with the software made the decision easy. “A decisive factor in choosing a software package was the integration with our CNC machine. It was very important that everything was contained within one program, from start to finish,” Dragt continues.

Today, all of Artica’s stand and interior design projects are developed in IronCAD. Whether it’s wood, fabric, or plastic, various materials are incorporated into the designs.

The Transition from 2D to 3D

The work planners were the first to start using the new software, transitioning from a 2D to a 3D workflow. “We adapted to it well. Taking the basic training course certainly contributed to this,” says Frank Otto, Work Planner at Artica.

Advantages of 3D Design

“A big difference from 2D design is that in 3D you immediately see what’s happening. Errors are visible early on. For example, if something doesn’t quite fit,” Otto explains. “Another advantage is that it’s fast to draw with. The TriBall [IronCAD’s positioning tool] is very easy to use.”

“The Implementation Went Smoothly”

Training was also provided for learning to work with Para-Flex. “The material was easy to pick up. In addition, the implementation went smoothly. The CAM connection was immediately up to speed and integrates well with the HOMAG CNC machine,” Otto elaborates.

More Effective Communication

IronCAD with Para-Flex has improved communication between Artica’s design team and the workshop. The workshop receives everything neatly prepared and can start production immediately. “The work planning has been moved forward in the process. Previously, for example, calculations for sawing were done on paper. Now, the cutting list rolls right out of the program.”
