Over the years, Van der Lee has shifted its focus from carpentry to furniture and they needed a flexible and easy-to-learn CAD solution to achieve additional productivity gains to support rapid growth.
Summary
By utilizing IronCAD's innovative 3D design software in conjunction with the design extension KeyShot for perfecting renderings all projects are currently drawn in IronCAD, in consultation with the client.
Results
Van der Lee leverages IronCAD's flexibility to design in real-time and form their own catalogs as well as design each piece of furniture in 3D, after which they simply convert it to 2D working drawings for the workshop. All of this resulted in an improvement to their product development speed and accuracy, better flexibility for making design changes, and streamlining communication of design concepts with clients.

IRONCAD WITHIN THE COMPANY

An employee of Van der Lee brought the IronCAD software to light within the company after having previously worked with the program at another interior design company. Since he had been working with IronCAD for a long time and Van der Lee did not yet have a CAD program, the choice was quickly made based on its capabilities.

Within the company, all projects are currently drawn in IronCAD in consultation with the client. Van der Lee designs each piece of furniture in 3D, after which they simply convert it to 2D working drawings for the workshop production using IronCAD.

SHAPING EVERY PROJECT

The flexibility of this CAD program is one of the most significant advantages for IronCAD users in the company. “You no longer draw using all kinds of tables that you have to fill in. We can design in real-time in 3D, which allows us to shape any project.” The 3D design is also nice for the customer to be able to see the intended end result and make adjustments right away where necessary. The customer gets a perfect picture of the furniture that will be delivered later.

LINK 3D TO 2D

The communication between 3D and 2D within IronCAD is excellent. Van der Lee stated: “With the 3D design ready, you can very simply place front views, side views, cross-sections, and details with a few clicks of a button. An adjustment in the 3D drawing is automatically updated in the 2D drawing.”

The ability to form your own catalogs is also a great, time-saving option. For perfecting realistic renderings, the KeyShot design extension offers a great solution to quickly present designs.

Van der Lee Interieurbouw summarizes IronCAD as a great, fast program to work with and easy to learn.
